About Me

Hi — I’m Aaron Kania, and I’m seeking the DFL endorsement for the Minnesota House of Representatives in District 3A.

I come from a strong union family, and I’ve seen firsthand how the DFL delivers real results for working people. I believe the future of the Northland depends on protecting good jobs, supporting strong communities, and making sure the people who power this region are never forgotten in St. Paul.

A District Like No Other

District 3A stretches across the Northland — from International Falls to Grand Portage, and down the North Shore to Silver Bay. It includes communities like Ely, Babbitt, Hoyt Lakes, Cook, Tower, and Soudan, and many more.

It’s the largest House district in Minnesota — and one of the most complex. It’s diverse, unique, and defined by both tradition and change. Here, the Iron Range blends into deep forests, through the Boundary Waters, and across the waters of Voyageurs National Park.

This is an ancient homeland — and also home to new arrivals. We are miners and loggers, healthcare workers and teachers, public servants and small business owners. We hunt and fish, we work hard, and we take pride in the land we live on. We also understand the responsibility that comes with being stewards of our forests, waters, and resources.

A Career Built on Public Trust

My career has been rooted in service — as a law enforcement officer, a wildland firefighter, and most recently as a caretaker of our forests, wilderness areas, and the vast natural resources that make this region what it is.

Those jobs required the highest level of public trust — the kind of trust that takes years to earn and seconds to lose.

They also taught me the value of teamwork, the importance of honesty, and the truth that divisive politics doesn’t solve problems. People are tired of the hate. They’re tired of the constant fighting. And they’re ready for leadership that focuses on results.

My Approach: Listen First

Over the next few months, we’ll spend a lot of time getting to know each other. We’ll also get to know our neighbors better — including people who see the world differently than we do.

That’s a good thing.

As a leader, the first job is to listen. Listening means being open to what people are truly experiencing — not just answering with talking points or political rhetoric.

If I finish this campaign with the exact same opinions I started with, then I didn’t listen well enough. I’m willing to do the homework, learn more, and make sure my priorities reflect what matters most to you and your family.

My core values won’t change — but I will always stay open to learning how to serve this district better.

A Life of Hard Work and Humility

These are lessons I’ve learned through challenging experiences, hard work, self-reflection, and from people who were wiser than I’ll ever claim to be. It’s the kind of education that doesn’t come with tuition — but the price of admission is high.

I’m Asking for Your Support

You have a choice in this election, and I hope you’ll choose to support me.

Let’s go.
